Algorithmic Transparency

Last updated: December 2025

This page explains how content is sorted and displayed on IVTTV, as required by Article 27 of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA). Our goal is to be fully transparent about what you see and why.

1. How Content Is Sorted

Content on IVTTV is organized and displayed using manual editorial curation and simple rule-based logic. We do not use machine learning, behavioral tracking, or personal profiling to decide what you see. The same catalogue and the same rails appear to every visitor in the same region, regardless of account, watch history, or browsing behavior.

2. Homepage Rails

The homepage is divided into content rails (Trending Now, New Releases, per-genre rows). Trending Now is populated from an editorial is_trending flag that our content team manually sets on selected titles. New Releases is sorted by release year. Genre rails are built automatically by grouping titles that share a genre tag, with a minimum of two titles per genre before a rail is shown.

3. Featured Hero Carousel

The large carousel at the top of the homepage and category pages shows titles our editorial team manually marks as featured. These are chosen by our content team based on release freshness, relevance to the catalogue, and visual quality. The order is fixed per session and does not change based on who is watching.

4. Search Results

Search results are returned using PostgreSQL full-text search (tsvector) against title, description, cast, and genre fields. Results are ranked by the database's built-in text match relevance score. No personalization, no user history, and no behavioral weighting is applied.

5. Similar Titles / Recommendations

On movie and series detail pages, we show "More Like This" based on a simple genre-overlap rule: other titles of the same type (movie or series) that share at least one genre tag with the title you are viewing. There is no machine-learning recommender, no collaborative filtering, and no profile-based personalization.

6. What We Do Not Do

IVTTV does not profile users. We do not build behavioral models. We do not show different content to different users based on their watch history, location tracking, or inferred preferences. We do not use dark patterns, addictive design, or personalized engagement hooks to influence what you watch. We do not share user data with third-party advertisers for content targeting.

7. How to Contact Us About Content Ranking

If you have questions about how content is sorted, or if you believe our ranking practices are not compliant with the DSA, please contact our Data Protection Officer at dpo@ivttv.com or our general support team at support@ivttv.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (DSB, https://www.dsb.gv.at).
